There is nothing I love more than sweater weather, made even better when they are sustainable sweaters. But not everyone's sustainable focus is the same. While you might prefer organic clothing others might be looking for vegan. To help you find the right sustainable sweater to match your personal ethics I've shared with you some of my favorites from each category.
Chunky Undyed Crew by Indigenous - Personally, I'm a huge fan of organic clothing, natural fibers and low impact or no dyes. Indigenous nails it with this Chunky Knit that will keep you warm in the Fall and Winter. Made from 50% organic cotton & 50% Peruvian Highland Wool using no dyes at all.
Peruvian Organic Box-Top Sweater by Eileen Fisher - Eileen Fisher has long since championed ethical practices, fair trade being among the most prominent. The companies Peru Project invest in local Peruvian communities providing jobs, fair wages, and local community support. The result is clothing you can look good and feel great in like this Box Top Sweater made from organic cotton.
Square Knit Sweater by Thinking MU- The good news is sweaters can be both animal friendly and organic. Thinking MU makes a collection of ethical clothing like this super comfy sweater that is fair trade, uses biodegradable dyes, organic cotton, cruelty-free and uses upcycled technology for tags and labeling. What more is there to say - I'm in love!
Izar Sweater by Diarte - Sometimes we want to know exactly where our clothing is produced and from what materials. Diarte ticks all the boxes with this Izar Sweater which is manufactured in Spain from 1005 Merino Wool which is Oek-Tek 100 Certified. While I don't own this sweater I have bought one very similar (just different color) in the past and wear it constantly throughout the Fall and Winter.
Doen Tree of Life Sweater by Reformation - Since its inception Reformation has been making the environmental impact of their garments known. Or better yet, they have been making what you're saving known. This Doen Tree of Life Sweater saves 215 lbs of Carbon Dioxide, 937 gallons of water and 0.8 lbs of waste. Made from 70% Baby Alpaca, 7% Merino Wool, 23% Polyamide it's definitely going to be a closet favorite.
Cashmere Crew by Everlane - When it comes to sweaters I prefer to stick with classic neutrals. It makes it easy to dress up, dress down and pair with just about anything I have in my closet. This Cashmere Crew from Everlane has long been a favorite so I was happy to see they are still producing it. It is made from 100% grade - A Mongolian cashmere and produced in Dongguan, China. Want to know more about the factory. Everlane makes it easy with their commitment to transparency.
